LVBIA awarded 2011 BIA Association Achievement Award for environmental responsibility

The Ontario BIA Association (OBIAA) and the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA) presented its 2011 Business Improvement Area Awards during the 2011 BIA Conference in London, Ontario on Monday April 11, 2011.
The Liberty Village BIA was awarded the Green Award, for environmental responsibility and for implementing programs that support the green and healthy ideals of our member businesses. The LVBIA was recognized for initiatives that include a commuter survey of travel patterns, discounted monthly TTC metropasses, the Liberty Village Carpool Zone, and Bike Here! art-integrated bike locker and parking system.
The LVBIA was recognized as the first BIA to offer such green lifestyle options for our members. We have taken the lead, created a system for duplication and demonstrated the benefits to all BIAs of adopting sustainable transportation systems for environmental conservation.
The Green Award was one of nine awards acknowledging the best of Business Improvement Association revitalization and management in the areas of innovation, development, marketing, communication and leadership. The LVBIA is honoured to receive this special recognition from our BIA peers.
